Lille Nöttefabrikken first with gas tight easy opening standup pouch for nuts

Lille Nöttefabrikken is a leading company passionate about nuts.

Nuts are predominantly packed in modified atmosphere to prevent the nuts going rancid. To have an easy opening and gas tight stand-up pouch produced in a conventional vertical form-fill seal machine has long been a true challenge. Micro channels in the sealing areas occur frequently where the packaging material is folded. This is traditionally overcome by selecting sealing layers which compromises the easy opening and thereby consumer convenience.

Flextrus has in close cooperation with Lille Nöttefabrikken solved the problem of combining easy opening with high pack integrity. Lille Nöttefabrikken is first out on the market in producing gas tight stand up pouches for nuts and dried fruit mixes using a new packaging material developed by Flextrus in a packaging machine with optimised sealing tools. The pouch is easy to open using a tear perforation and very smooth peel seal. When opened, the pack printed with HD flexo is an attractive and convenient stand-up pouch easy to pick nuts and dried fruit from.

- This new packaging solution has finally resolved the problem of un-tight pouches in our production in combination with a truly easy opening pack for our nuts and dried fruit products, says Stig Gustavsen, Purchasing & Packaging development manager at Lille Nöttefabrikken, part of the Brynild-gruppen. We currently have seven products on the market packed in this concept and it is likely to grow further.
