A rare set of measures

The combination of interacting measures taken by Flextrus to build a model for sustainable production is unique. The main elements are:

  • Recycled material into the process
High level of recycling along with high performance of the materials.
rPET is an expanding and important product where recycled APET is used in the middle layer, covered with layers of virgin APET. The total product performance is maintained.

  • Minimisation of landfill wastes and trim wastes
Close to the target of “zero-tolerance” thanks to a focused waste management system. For example the recently installed closed-circuit system facilitates compacting of materials for re-use in other applications.

  • Light-weight solutions
Continuous pursuit of reduced material weight in order to comply with increasing environmental concerns. Improved functionality is obtained with thinner materials thanks to the Flextrus technology.

  • Reduction of CO2 footprint
Successful active and focused work sourcing sustainable materials to reduce CO2 footprint. An example is the product Paperlite.

  • Elimination of harmful chemicals
Our focus on extrusion technology has resulted in the total elimination of chlorine, isocyanates and aromatic amines, as well as the minimal use of additives (only non-oxidants).

  • Advanced energy recovery systems
Heat recovery during incineration of unavoidable waste.

  • All relevant certification and procedures
    ISO 9001 & 14001, GMP and BRC/IoP
